My first impression of Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, Virginia can best be summed up in a single word – wow. The sprawling, breathtaking vineyards deliver a completely immersive experience where you can forget the outside world and stretch out on the comfy couches under the trellis. The view is outstanding – a shimmering pond surrounded by gently sloping vines in full bloom under a boundless blue sky. While I have yet to visit the wineries in California or the Finger Lakes, I have to say that Stone Tower is the most beautiful winery I have ever seen.
The vibe is elite and exclusive – certain areas of the winery are off-limits to non-club members and you won’t find a wine under $28. However, day-trippers and casual connoisseurs are welcome to enjoy the rustic beauty of the Harvest Barn. (3rd photo in the slideshow) Due to its popularity, reservations are recommended and are limited to 2 hours. During our visit, the Harvest Barn menu was barbeque and I have to say it was fantastic! The 2019 Wild Boar Rose paired nicely with our BBQ lunch and the tranquil setting made for a wonderful, memorable day.
